    Product Description

Allspice is made from the dried unripe fruit, or berries, of the Pimenta dioica, an evergreen shrub found in tropical climates, such as Jamaica, Mexico and Honduras.

Allspice was discovered by Christopher Columbus during his second voyage to the New World while in Jamaica, and was named by his physician because of the way it tasted like a variety of spices.

Today, it is used in a variety of dishes, including Caribbean, Middle Eastern and Indian cuisine. It is also used frequently in North American and British baking, and as flavouring in sausage making.
